Members of the Epworth and District Bonfire Committee are busy putting the final finishing touches to a firework display worthy of finishing off a year of the best country heritage celebrations in living memory, with a shower of shimmering sparkles.
Due to take place on the Epworth Show Field on Saturday, 3rd November, organisers will be hosting Epworth’s third bonfire night and after 2012 seeing not only the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee but also the Olympic Games taking place, they intend to wave goodbye to a year of festivities in a flurry of flames and spectacular fireworks.
For the first time the display will be set to music via a large speaker system, and adults and children can watch the sparkly spectacle whilst enjoying burgers, jacket potatoes, a hog roast, candy floss and toffee apples, all courtesy of the burger vans and sweet stalls on site. Plus, hot drinks and a fully staffed bar guarantees that no one will be going cold during the celebrations.
“We were delighted when we learnt that our bonfire event in 2011 saw 1,500 people attend, and we’re really hoping that even more decide to pop down and join us this year,” says Dave Hayes, Chairman of the Epworth and District Agricultural Society.
“2012 has been amazing thanks to the Jubilee and Olympics and it was simply incredible to host the 66th Epworth Show back in August in a year, when the whole country was caught up in such a celebratory mood,” he continues.
“Our third bonfire night is the perfect opportunity to finish off the celebrations in style and the firework display that we’ve got lined up will definitely bid farewell to a fantastic year with a bang.”
Gates open at 5pm, the bonfire will be lit at 6pm and the firework display is from 6.45pm onwards.
Ticket prices are as follows: £5 for adults, £2 for children (14 and under), Under 5s are free
