Woke up this mornin’ and went to the Dome!
Some of the UK’s top blues acts are bringing their bottlenecks to town for Sunday’s second Doncaster Blues Fest.
The twice-yearly event enjoyed a devastating debut in March and fans are eagerly anticipating another spoonful of magical music.
Headlining are Brit blues veterans Nine Below Zero. Their taut, aggressive style has been a hit for decades – and to top off what is already a tasty musical treat, NBZ feature the astonishing harmonica of Mark Feltham, surely the best blues harp player the UK has produced.
Further down the line-up is another downhome UK vet, guitarist Larry Miller.
Heavily influenced by Rory Gallagher, Miller is a real showman in the real juke joint tradition and holds the enviable record for receiving the most encores at The Cambridge Rock Festival when he played in 2009. If hard-edged rockin’ blues are your bag, then Larry’s yer man!
Also playing are Jo Harman and Company, Paul Lamb and the King Snakes and Ron Sayer Jnr.
Organiser Stephen Stanley said: “The first festival went very well and the audience was fantastic. We love coming to Doncaster – it’s got everything we need.”
