Balby by the Sea, which is now in its second year, was held on Saturday at Woodfield Social Club, Woodfield Road, from 12pm and 5pm.

The Right Up Our Street team and Balby Community Arts brought plenty of family, beach-themed entertainment to the club including a trapeze and aerial performance, face-painting, circus workshops, pantomime, a ventriloquist, a giant deck-chair and a vintage tea room.

Colin Findlay, co-vice chair of the Balby Community Arts group, said it had been a huge success.

“It was all fantastic. The weather was great as well, which was a bonus. The entertainment was fabulous. We had around 1,000 visitors attend during the day.

“The aerial performance went down well. The face-painters never stopped, there were queues of people waiting all day.

“The ventriloquist had everyone in stitches, all the way through he was getting people up out of the audience to get them involved in the performance.”

Colin added: “The event was just as successful as last year, it was really nice to see people coming back again, but there’s definitely potential for it to grow. Next week we will all be making plans for next year’s event.

“I would like to thank all the volunteers who helped out, if it wasn’t for them it wouldn’t have happened.”
