The Healthy Easter at Home initiative includes lots of ideas such as Easter hunts with QR codes to make them as interactive as possible, PE lessons, accessing Cycling Camps at the Dome’s Cycle Track and other outdoor activities as well as tips for getting creative, making healthy eating snacks and garden games.

It also includes an exciting competition which gives people the chance to get creative when out on bikes, walks and runs over Easter.

Participants are being asked to create different route patterns on the map of the popular running App Strava, which could be in the shape of an Easter bunny, egg or spring chick or something completely different, and send in their entries. The four best ones will be put forward into a Facebook vote where DCLT followers will pick the overall winner who gets a free swim and skate for two people when the venues are back open. For more information about the competition, visit: www.dclt.co.uk/stravacompetition/

All the activities suggested as part of Healthy Easter at Home are allowed within the current Government restrictions.

Jon Whiteley, deputy chief executive of DCLT, said: “We’re really excited to introduce our range of activities which are all available online for Doncaster children and young people, and their parents and carers, to access this Easter. There are lots of really simple activities that encourage the whole family to get outdoors and get active as well as things to do in the home to help keep everyone entertained.

“We recognise what a difficult time it has been lately and how hard it is for children and young people to keep physically and mentally active and here at DCLT we’re always looking at ways to help and support residents do just that! We hope people find these suggestions helpful.”
