As we were informed the Arctic chill is on its way this week something very warming landed in Sheffield.
A family of dysfunctional Dubliners arrived in the shape of For The Love of Mrs Brown at the Motorpoint Arena in Attercliffe.
Adapted from the popular TV series Mrs Brown’s Boys, this show has all the characters on board during the UK tour.
Playing to packed houses, the show certainly has made the move from TV screen to arena stages very well with a fast-moving storyline and gags falling out all the time.
If you’re shocked by a bit of bad language, then be prepared as the Brown clan gather in the busiest living room in Europe.
Without giving too much away, Mrs Brown is feeling a tad lonely and looking for someone new in her life and – helped mainly by daughter Cathy, played by Jennifer Gibney – she aims to find true love.
However, nothing goes to plan and the rest of the family have their own issues and situations to resolve, such as Rory’s work and love issues at the salon.
As usual, Dermot has his fair share of costumes and the whole cast are faultless in their performances.
Indeed the ad libbing and audience interaction takes some beating.
Led by Brendan O’Carroll in the title role, it’s an evening of laughs.
The cast are clearly having as much fun as the audience and often have to take a second to stop laughing to get the next gag out.
If you don’t want to be a total eejit and miss out on a great night, get yourselves down to the Arena.
n Mrs Brown’s Boys continues tonight at 7.30pm and tomorrow at 2pm and 7.30pm. For tickets, call 0114 256 5656.
