A ‘priest of song’ is preparing to take Root in Doncaster.

Singer-songwriter Jack Harris is playing the town’s The Roots Music Club next week.

Acclaimed American singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell, who Jack has supported in the past, said: “Jack is a priest of song, who holds himself to a rigorous, ancient code of beauty that most of us have forgotten exists.”

Jack is playing The Roots club, at the Ukrainian Centre, Beckett Road, Doncaster, on Friday, June 26.

A spokesman for Jack said: “The literate, commpassionate songs of Jack have won him much acclaim in songwriting circles.

“Jack’s live show is a riveting mix of song-craft and story-telling, adorned by his intricate fingerstyle guitar and smoke, soulful vocals.

“Drawing from the narrative traditions of folk and blues music, Jack brings both into the here and now, a ‘born poet’ whose songs are steeped in myth and mystery.”

Tickets for the concert are priced from £8 in advance, from www.wegottickets.com/rootsmusicclubdoncaster, or £10 on the door.

Doors for the show open at 7.30pm.
