One Direction star and former Doncaster schoolboy Louis Tomlinson says he will not be the first to go solo if One Direction split up.

The singer, from Bessacarr, a former pupil at both Hayfield School and Hall Cross School, says he would not cope as a solo artist.

He says he likes to have the rest of his group to lean on.

The 22-year-old said: “I personally don’t think I’d be able to do it as a solo artist.

“It’s good to be able to speak to people who know exactly what you personally are going through.”

Louis co-wrote a track on One Direction’s forthcoming new album, which will be called Four.

And the pop quintet are allowing fans to download the song Fireproof for 24 hours free in anticipation of their fourth album, which will come out on November 17.

The track, called Fireproof, has been co-written by both Louis and Liam Payne, along with the songwriting team of John Ryan, Jamie Scott and Julian Bunetta, who were behind the hit Story Of My Life.
