A familiar name with an original sound, Simon Townshend is straight from the lineage of one of British music’s most famous families, and will perform in a newly re-opened Doncaster venue this week.
The baby brother of The Who legend Pete Townshend, Simon has been recording and performing since the age of nine and has performed with numerous established acts, ranging from Jeff Beck to Pearl Jam, and including 15 years as guitarist and vocalist in The Who.
He has also made original music with his rock-star brother, Pete, including with notable song writing and vocal contributions to Iron Man and Psychoderelict
This is a must-see performance for any fan of The Who or guitar music in genreal.

2. Oh what a knight
Calling all junior knights to a fun and medieval-themed event in Conisbrough this bank-holiday weekend.
Join the trio of medieval sword masters at the English Heritage-run Conisbrough Castle and get to grips with the learn the lethal art of medieval swordsmanship.
Visitors can get to grips with a range of swords and hear the crash of steel on steel in the event’s thrilling combat displays.
The castle provides the perfect backdrop for a medieval clash.

3. Legendary murder mystery
Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap has been the world’s longest running stage production, and now that has left the West End for a UK tour which arrives in Leeds this week.
Last week the record-breaking production enters its 61st year.
A group of people gathered together in a remote part of the countryside discover there is a murderer in their midst. The question, of course, is which one of them is the guilty party...?

4. Marty Ccdonald had a farm
A family friendly production of Marty McDonald’s Farm comes to the region this week.
Marty is looking after his uncle’s farm but Old MacDonald has left things in a mess – the animals have gone on holiday, the farmyard is topsy-turvy and the crafty crows are eating the crops in front of his eyes!
Join Marty, Pongo the Pig, Molly-Moo the Cow and Sheena the Sheep as they work together to find a way to rescue the corn and save their farm.
This fantastic show features children’s CBeebies favourites Justin Fletcher MBE as the voice of Pongo the Pig.

5. All aboard the soul train
The Craig Charles funk and soul train rides in to South Yorkshire this week for one night only.
The well-known Coronation Street actor and former Red Dwarf star has carved himself out a successful broadcasting and DJing career, presenting BBC 6 Music’s Funk & Soul Show, as well as DJing regularly at the iconic Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes venue in London.
And now Craig is set to bring his funk and soul show to Sheffield’s legendary Leadmill music venue.
