Calls on budding landlords to own their own pub

POTENTIAL pub landlords are being invited to an open day organised by one of the country’s largest pub chains.

Punch Taverns currently have a number of vacancies across South Yorkshire and are calling for people with an interest to come forward.

The company has now organised an open day at the Steer Arms in Belton, Doncaster, taking place today, February 17, from 3pm to 7pm.

Representatives from the pub-chain will be on hand to answer any questions people may have about running a pub.

Letting and recruitment director Suzy Jackson said: “The industry has responded well to some challenging times and this means that there are some fantastic pub businesses out there for the right individuals to make their mark on.

“So many people have the right transferable skills, commercial acumen, individuality and personality to make a huge success of their own pub business.”

One licensee, Maggie Traynor of the New Inn in Barnsley decided to swap the world of hairdressing for a life behind the bar.

She said “I love running the pub but I’ve never worked so hard. The support from Punch is there if I need it.”
