CELEBRATIONS ran a bit dry at a Conisbrough pub, after drinkers were told last orders would be at 11.30pm... on New Year’s Eve!
Customers at the Red Lion had to get their last drinks in – a full half-hour before the big countdown, after orders from the brewery, Samuel Smith. The managers of the pub did not want to be quoted, but confirmed that revellers had been informed well in advance of New Year’s Eve of bar closing times.
They added that customers were allowed to stay inside the premises for the midnight celebrations, but had to leave shortly afterwards.
The Times tried to talk to Sam Smiths, amid rumours that other pubs owned by the company had also had to shut early, but no-one was available for comment.
