The opening Nursery Handicap at 1.10pm looks a good opportunity for the Charlie and Mark Johnston-trained Swift Lioness to record a second career win. Successful on debut, she shaped with plenty of promise on her latest start at Pontefract when second and there still looks to be plenty more to come. She is taken to see off Gulmarg who has already run eight times this year and boasts two wins on turf. He enters shallower waters here having filled fifth in a competitive event at Newmarket last time out. Starnberg, who is yet to score in five starts completes the field.

Sacred Flower looks a filly to follow in the maiden over a mile at 1.45pm for team Godolphin. She counts Group One scorer Old Persian as a sibling and she makes plenty of appeal on paper.

Infinite Cosmos hails from the family of Crystal Ocean is respected for Sir Michael Stoute. His Majesty The Queen also has an interesting runner in the shape of Market Value. Her dam is Eatimate who famously triumphed for the late Her Majesty The Queen in the Gold Cup at Ascot.

The second division of the fillies’ maiden at 2.20pm is also stacked full of interesting newcomers. Godolphin run Winter’s Love who is related to a number of winners whilst team Gosden unleash Soul Sister who is a daughter of Frankel.

Sir Michael Stoute also has a Frankel bred runner in Humankind who comes from a smart filly and is another to note.

One of the highlights on the card is the £20,000 six-furlong handicap at 3.30pm. The contest features popular sprinter Dakota Gold who has struggled this year, failing to win so far. However, he is still showing plenty of enthusiasm for the game and shaped well at York when fourth on his latest start. Asjad boasts course and distance winning form and is respected on the back of an excellent third at Ascot last time out.

The four-year-old had previously impressed when winning on Town Moor, defeating Mums Tipple by a neck and the pair face off again here. Mr Wagyu has enjoyed a fine campaign, landing a big pot in Ireland, but does need to redeem himself having finished a well-beaten 15th at York last time out. Just Frank and Magical Spirit, another course and distance winner, complete the field.

The other £20,000 event is the 14-furlong handicap at 4.05pm. Almuhit looks a fascinating runner for team Gosden. He won at Haydock in May and was subsequently gelded, finishing second on his latest start when failing to justify favouritism at Kempton last month. However, the step up in trip should suit and he has to be of interest along with Traila who was second over this trip at Yarmouth on his second start for David Simcock and therefore should be involved in this event.
