Sheffield Collegiate were undone by a stunning 164 from former player Eliot Callis, as Yorkshire Academy claimed a comfortable eight-wicket home victory in the Yorkshire League on Saturday.

Collegiate were all out for 233 in the first innings, before Callis and the Academy made light work of chasing down their target to tighten their grip on fourth place and keep in touch with the league leaders.

Collegiate’s Simon Guy put up a valiant effort at the crease racking-up 95, but five wickets for 71 from Yaaser Imtiaz helped skittle the visitors and limit them to a reachable first innings total.

Jaco Scholtz hit a gutsy 75 for Sheffield United, but couldn’t prevent them from going down to a five-wicket defeat against York.

The South African helped United to 231-9 with Jacob Heseltine adding 53, but a fine performance from Ryan McKendry, who took 4-37, scuppered their efforts before York took to the crease.

Simon Lambert’s 43, and 42 from Alex Collins, eased York to victory, to move them within two points of league- leaders Barnsley.

Barnsley suffered a rare defeat at the top as Appleby Frodingham sent them back to the pavilion for just 126, with Kieran Watson taking a magnificent 5-37.

Rob Day hit 52 not out for Appleby whilst Kieran Lindley managed 34, as the leaders were given a target of 176 to chase.

But Watson’s heroics with the ball limited the league-leaders’ opportunity to chase down the target, with Steven Nuttall’s 48 the closest Barnsley came to repairing the damage.

Andy Simpson scored 93for Hull, but they remain bottom after Doncaster Town skittled them for 198 to stay comfortably in mid-table.

Alex Gosney scored a superb 113 for Town as they soared to a total of 314, with Felix Odell chipping in with a solid 49.

Simon Guy took 4-23 for Doncaster as the league’s bottom side fell short of their total by some 116 runs.
