A speedy schoolgirl proved she had the X-factor at a televised cross-country event.
Owston Ferry youngster Ellie Watts qualified for the Inter-Counties Cross-Country Championships back in January and travelled to Birmingham’s Crofton Park at the weekend where she represented Humberside.
Taking part in the under-13s race, Watts battled against the elements and did the Isle proud despite not winning a medal.
The South Axholme Academy youngster has had a fantastic first cross country season running for Doncaster Athletic Club and her school.
In her fledgling racing career, the youngster has won the initial Schools Cross-Country Trial at Scunthorpe and the invitational Cross-Country at Beverley. She also finished third in the North Lincolnshire Schools Cross-Country Championships.
Proud mum Fiona said: “Her coach Adie Ward is so proud of her, she has come such a long way in a short space of time.
“What a fantastic achievement for a young girl from Owston Ferry to get to the championships.
“We are so proud of her.”
