Ice hockey is a physical game - but this video shows Belfast Giants player-coach Derrick Walser going too far.

During the game between Coventry Blaze and Belfast on Sunday 27th September 2015, Walser was given a a 5+game penalty for butt ending an opponent on the boards.

It was a dangerous and reckless action and could have caused serious injury.

Following a review, the EIHL discipline chiefs upgraded the original penalty to a match, which carries an automatic one-match suspension.

He was also been given an additional game for his reckless use of the stick, so will miss both weekend matches against title rivals Sheffield Steelers.

Walser cannot play or even run the bench at Sheffield.
