Tickhill fall to another hefty defeat

Division One

TICKHILL will breathe a sigh of relief when the curtain comes down on their disappointing campaign next week after suffering another hefty defeat to Shiregreen.

A stand of 93 from Mohammad Fayyaz and Liaquat Ali with 60 and 33 respectively got Shiregreen motoring on their way to 213-9 at the close.

Ashley Fiddler claimed 3-40 for Tickhill who struggled greatly against the Shiregreen attack.

Ashley Suddes managed 39 runs but no other batsmen could get to grips and Tickhill fell for 115.

Ihtisham Mohammad claimed 3-32 and Mohammad Ilyas 4-18.

Wath Seconds must win at Shiregreen on the final day if they are to have any chance of survival after losing to Rotherham Town Seconds.

After slumping to 3-2, Wath recovered through Nick Purcell’s unbeaten 105.

Purcell received support from Andy Bell with 32 and Daniel Waldron joined him in remaining to the close with 34no as Wath posted 212-5.

But Rotherham eased to victory with six overs and seven wickets remaining.

Skipper David Mace struck 37 while Jonathan Allen hit an unbeaten 92.

To survive, Wath must also hope Elsecar Seconds fail to win at Kexborough.
