Doncaster Lawn Tennis Club have netted the Sheffield & District LTA Ladies’ Division One title for the first time in more than 20 years, writes Steve Hossack.
The club has also made a flying start to their Yorkshire Ladies’ League campaign, winning all four of their opening games following promotion to the Premier Division.
“The club is really flourishing at the moment,” said joint club coach Liz Beaton.
“The title-winning team covers many age groups with the youngest being 14-year-old Elizabeth Morris and the oldest being in their fifties, but we have a great team spirit.
“We also introduced a second ladies team this year as there are so many ladies and junior girls who want to play team tennis.
“The second team won their league (Division Five) which is very pleasing as three junior girls were able to play senior competitive tennis for the first time. The club’s under 12s team also won their league.”
