Four swimmers took the plunge in a regional championship to scoop a number of top ten placings.

Youngsters Greg Lugton, Abigail Miles, Jessica Richardson and Libby Taylor all swam impressively across several races to clinch honours in the ASA North East Regional Championships.

The Borough of Barnsley contingent also saw 12-year-old Taylor scoop gold in the 200m breastroke. She finished in the top ten in every single one of her nine races, clinching fourth-sixth places throughout.

Meanwhile, Lugton, aged 12, took on four events to achieve two top ten places during the event which was held over three weekend in Leeds, Sheffield and Sunderland.

Having qualified for seven events in her first regional competition, 10-year-old Miles took six top tens and just missed out on a bronze in the 200m breaststroke.

Richardson, 11, swam in the 100m butterfly to finish in a credible 21st spot.

The club, which holds most of its training in the Dearne area, will this week be competing for national accolades.

The club are always interested in hearing from swimmers wanting to join their teams.
