Kell Brook fans will have to fork out a second consecutive pay-per-view fee according to speculation from his likely opponent’s camp.
Brandon Rios’ promoter Bob Arum has suggested agreement between the two sides is close and could lead to a quick return to the 02 Arena for Sheffield’s world champion. Brook stopped Frankie Gavin in his first PPV outing, at the London venue, last month. Arum said: “I’m optimistic we could have an announcement next week.
“We’re getting very close to making that fight. It would be at the O2 Arena in London, a huge crowd, on PPV in England.
“Kell Brook’s a talented fighter – but even if Brandon lost, he’s going to get a big payday and he can cover himself in glory.”
The showdown originally tipped for August 29 at Sheffield United’s ground could be staged at the 02 on September 12.
Brook has had a lot of boxing and training this year, so it’s more likely that the 02 will get the show because of their later date.
Super middleweight James Degale and heavyweight Anthony Joshua will probably share the London bill.
Brook will be a studio guest on Sky TV’s Adrien Broner v Shawn Porter presentation this weekend.
