Kell Brook’s injury has proved to be an expensive business for his home city of Sheffield and his promoters, Matchroom.
Brook was slated to face Diego Chaves on Saturday in a defence of his IBF welterweight world title, a show that American network Showtime was going to beam across the States.
But a rib injury forced him to pull out meaning the top of the Arena bill is now Chris Eubank Jr, who isn’t necessarily the first name on every South Yorkshire fight fan’s lips. Brook’s fight could now happen elsewhere - maybe sharing the bill with Anthony Joshua at London’s 02 Arena on December 12.
Matchroom have altered the price structure for Sheffield’s show which includes Doncaster’s Gavin McDonnell. They ae offering full and partial refunds saying: “Fans can get a full refund from point of purchase or refund in line with the new pricing for tickets which is £30 (previously £40), £45 (£60), £60 (£80), £80 (£100), £100 (£150) and £175 (£250) VIP. Arena customers should call the Box Office 0114 256 56 56 or email firstname.lastname@example.org stating if they require a full refund or partial refund.
McDonnell defends his European Bantamweight strap against former World title challenger Jeremy Parodi, while Sheffield’s Atif Shafiq takes on Derbyshire hot head Jamie Robinson. Other young local talent is also in action.
