City of Sheffield and Dearne compete in the third round of the British League (Premier Division) at Birmingham tomorrow.

After a poor opening match, they won the second round and are currently in third place. Host team Birchfield are clear at the top and are favourites to extend their lead. However, Sheffield will be looking to equal last year’s effort when they finished runners up. It will not be easy for the Sheffield team who are without several of their leading athletes. Joe Dunderdale, silver medallist in last week’s UK javelin, lines up in the javelin whilst Gareth Winter should score well in the shot and discus as well as throwing the hammer. Decathlete Liam Ramsay does three events and Rick Yates should do well in the 400 metres and the B 110 hurdles.
