Raw Impulse can continue to make progress by landing the Weatherbys Hamilton Handicap at Salisbury.

The three-year-old has only a handful of races to his name so far but he has shown more than a glimpse of promise by winning a Nottingham maiden earlier this term before placing in his two subsequent handicap outings.

Clive Cox’s charge did not make his racecourse bow until April this year, finishing sixth at Newbury before stepping up to win next time in a race that has produced no less than six winners since.

He was sent off favourite on his handicap bow but found Memorial Day half a length too good in a race that also featured its fair share of past and future winners

The Makfi colt was again the market leader last time as he finished third at Goodwood but he found soft ground tough going that day and perhaps showed signs of inexperience as he wandered around a little in the finish.

Raw Impulse remains on a mark of 87 here and while he faces a stiff task against the likes of What About Carlo, he is in receipt of plenty of weight and still has something to give.

Tabarrak justified his status as an odds-on favourite at Newbury last time and can deal with a slight step up in class for the Bathwick Tyres Conditions Stakes.

The Acclamation colt ran a cracker when second to subsequent Listed winner Tashweeq on his debut so it was no surprise he was sent off a skimpy price to go one place better next time.

He duly did the business with the minimum of fuss by three and a half lengths for Richard Hannon and this event looks a logical step.

Hannon should also be on the mark at Nottingham as Brutus looks the right type for the Jockey Club Grassroots Middle Distance Series Final.

He showed he stays 10 furlongs when second over that trip at Sandown last time and connections can afford to take a more positive view following that effort.
