Clowance One can break his duck at the third time of asking in the 32Red On The App Store Maiden Stakes at Kempton.

Roger Charlton knows this family well having trained the dam, Clowance, to finish second in the Irish St Leger and has given this oasis Dream colt plenty of time.

Unraced at two, he showed plenty on his debut when third at Newbury to Andrew Balding’s classy Scottish in May.

The winner is now rated 113 having won the Doonside Cup last time out and the runner-up Keble is rated 97.

Not seen again until August, the three-year-old returned to Newbury but this time on bottomless ground and despite his dam thriving in those conditions, they appeared to catch him out.

Having travelled like much the best horse he faltered close home and finished third, two lengths behind a 95-rated rival (who admittedly is now rated only 80).

Even so, that would be strong enough form in the context of a maiden and heading to the Polytrack should hold no fears.

The biggest danger appears to be the Godolphin newcomer Emirates Comfort as they mop up maidens at this time of year.

The William Haggas-trained Wrapped has shown enough to two outings to suggest she is the one to beat in the Maiden Fillies’ Stakes.

Owned by Cheveley Park Stud, she was not beaten far into third on her debut and while she finished fourth next time, she was actually beaten by less of a margin.

She was not ideally positioned in that contest and the step up to a mile might help.

Haggas could also be on the mark at Leicester where Light Music should give the Queen something to cheer in the first division of the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes.
