Second Wave can regain the winning thread in the Play The New Scoop6Soccer Every Week Handicap at Chelmsford.
Winner of his only juvenile start for Charlie Appleby last term, he returned in the same kind of form when pitched into handicap company on his seasonal bow at Redcar back in April.
However, after finishing third at Nottingham just a few days later, Second Wave was off the track until returning at Haydock at the beginning of September when he had to settle for second.
He raced a bit keenly that day and perhaps just paid for that eagerness, as well as his lengthy absence, as went down by just under two lengths after filing to find the necessary change of gear.
Second Wave should strip fitter for that outing and while the all-weather surface is an unknown factor, he has shown an aptitude for differing ground so it should present few problems.
Mrs Biggs showed signs of a revival last time out and is one to bear in mind for the Eppleworth Fillies’ Handicap at Beverley.
While Declan Carroll’s charge has not struck gold since June 2014, she has run some fair races in defeat, including when beaten just a neck at Catterick last time.
She appeared to improve for the decision to take off the blinkers on that occasion, racing prominently before just getting run out of it in the dying strides by a late-finishing rival.
A slight rise in the weights is hardly ideal but a mark of 65 is not beyond her and she has previously shown some useful form on the Westwood which is another positive.
Mark Johnston is the man to follow in the opening events as Deodoro and Linger look likely types.
Deodoro lines up in the EBF Stallions/Pony Racing Here On Sunday Maiden Stakes after finishing fourth in a similar event at Beverley last week.
The Medaglio D’Oro filly was very green that day and gave herself little chance of taking a hand in the finish but the experience will not be wasted on her.
