The Northern Racing College has secured a £45,000 grant courtesy of Sport England’s Inspired Facilities fund.
Officials at the Rossington venue plan to build an additional arena, adjacent to the current indoor riding school, to meet the demands of its increasing community programmes.
The Northern Racing College, which provides training for staff from the horse racing industry and recently featured on Channel Four’s ‘Jockey School’ documentary, has been awarded £44,983.
The money allocated was a share of £17 million awarded by the scheme for projects nationwide, with an additional £20 million being made available for new applications in the next round of funding.
Sport England property director Charles Johnston said: “The Inspired Facilities fund has had a huge impact on grassroots sport across the country.
“It’s great to see these latest projects join the long list of successful clubs to benefit from this fund.”
Minister for Sport Helen Grant said: “The Inspired Facilities fund is giving a huge boost to grassroots sport across the country.
“I would urge local sports clubs to look at how this fund can help them create more opportunities for people to get involved in sport.”
The Inspired Facilities fund has been helping to revive and reinvigorate a wide range of sports facilities across the country since its foundation in 2011.
