Doncaster boxing fans are in for a treat when the latest fighter from the town makes his professional debut this weekend, according to promoter Stefy Bull.

Balby lightweight Lewis Booth will make his pro bow at the Dome on Saturday night and Bull is excited about the 19-year-old’s potential.

“He’s still very green but there is plenty to be excited about when it comes to Lewis,” Bull said. “He had 60 or 70 fights as an amateur and comes in with a decent amount of pedigree.

“We’ve been working on slowing him down a bit without taking his hand speed away.

“He’s Manny Pacquiao-fast with his hands and I think it’ll make for some exciting and explosive fights in the future.

“Lewis is a bit of an all-rounder and it’s going to be interesting to see how he progresses.”

Bull says the former Doncaster Plant amateur has the bit between his teeth after deciding to turn pro.

Bull said: “He’ll admit himself that he was playing at it at times during his amateur career but I can’t fault his dedication since he’s been with us.

“He’s been working with me and Ray Doyle for almost a year now and we’ve just told him to be patient and wait for the fight to come.

“It’s been about waiting for the right time to put him in there and it is now.

“I’m really excited about this kid.”
