MEXBOROUGH will become the only First XI to ever compete in the lowest rung of the South Yorkshire League ladder after their relegation was confirmed by a nine wicket defeat at Frecheville.
Zaiem Khalil put up a decent fight with the bat to post 52 but Mexborough were undone by David Ratcliffe who claimed 5-28 to help skittle them for 164.
The opening Frecheville pairing posted 107 before David Clayton departed for 46 and the writing was on the wall for Mexborough.
Alan Wake remained to record an unbeaten 86 in Frecheville’s triumph.
Troubled Mexborough have tumbled from Division One to Division Four in just two years while battling valiantly to secure the club’s future.
Champions Dearne suffered only their third defeat of the season to Aston Hall Seconds who confirmed their own promotion with the win.
Andrew Froggatt and Dane Froggatt both top scored with 32 as Dearne could only manage 129-9 from their innings
But it appeared enough when Aston collapsed to 90-7 in response.
However Aston held on to secure the win with two overs to spare.
