HUNDREDS of runners took to the streets and lanes around Epworth on Sunday for the third Isle of Axholme Half Marathon.
Organiser Julian Moorhouse of Metres to Miles in the town said: “It was a great day.
“There were some fabulous performances in really nice weather for the runners.
“Special mention must go to Christopher Payne – a Metres to Miles regular – for his hard work setting out the course and all our helpers, Lives First Responders, our race officials and marshalls, the local children for handing out goody bags and T-shirts, South Axholme School for providing parking facilities as well as our sponsors Scott, McBride Physiotherapy and Andrew Coulson Sports Therapy.”
He added: “It was a really great day and great to see smiling faces on the finishers’ faces and on those of the supporters. Topped off with a fabulous new personal best time posted by Gary Crompton of Belton.”
There has been plenty of support for the event on the Metres to Miles Facebook page, here are just some of the comments made.
