WOODLANDS Park beat Thorpe Marsh Bentley to 201-145 to claim their first Doncaster Bowls Association Saturday League Section A away win of the season.

Thomas Boyd (21-8), Sarah Fox (21-8) and Graham Fox (21-6) all starred for for Park. Eric Teasdale (21-6) and Gary Potter (21-9) excelled for Rossington, but wins from Denise Green (21-9), Eric Cullingworth and Brian Hardy (both 21-6) and Brendan Glynn (21-3) helped secure Eden Grove-Peglers a 167-137 Section B win.

Carcroft edged a narrow 193-189 win at Maltby Main.

Elizabeth Hall’s 21-7 win was just a consolation for Parklands as Dave Rogers (21-8) led top-of-the-table Westfield Park to another (191-150) win.

Andrew Baker (21-9) starred for Roundwood B in their 195-152 victory with Andy Kershaw (21-8) one of only two winners for Armthorpe.

Alan Beasley (21-9) put Roundwood B ahead, but Brian Hardy (21-8) and Danny Ruffini (21-7) won well late to clinch a 171-162 victory for Eden Grove-Peglers.

Adwick B got a good start from Mick Brooks (21-6), but then faded badly as Carl Perks (21-8), Jane Morris (21-6), Jack Chantry (21-3) and Chris Haigh (21-6) registered big wins for Hexthorpe in their 192-124 Section C success.

Roundwood C had good wins from Selwyn Fowkes (21-5), Ann Goodwin (21-7) and Walter Roden (21-6) in their 198-139 victory over Parklands B. Robert Hocking won 21-2 as Wickersley inflicted a first defeat (186-165) of the season on Adwick.

Chris Haigh (21-8) and Bob Case (21-9) won well as Hexthorpe (177-167) won away from home for the first time this season, with Joe Dixon’s 21-5 win for Yorkshire Main B counting for nothing.
