Cricket: Adam Lyth, Alex Lees, Ralph Middlebrook, Andrew Gale and Charlotte Edwards all in Wombwell awards wins

Yorkshire dominated the Wombwell Cricket Lovers’ national awards determined at the Society’s Annual General Meeting.

Prolific opening batsman, Adam Lyth, claimed three awards - Cricketer of the Year, Best Performance award in Roses Matches and Fielder of the Year accolades.

His opening partner, Alex Lees, claimed the CB Fry Young Cricketer award.

County captain, Andrew Gale, was the winner of the Brian Sellers County Captain of the Year.

The Society’s Services to Yorkshire Cricket award went to Ralph Middlebrook, for his dedicated work to coaching in the county over many years.

England Women’s captain, Charlotte Edwards, won the Wombwell’s Services to English Cricket award.

Other Yorkshire winners included fast bowler Jack Brooks who picked up the Denis Compton Memorial award for ‘Flair’.

Most Promising Young Yorkshire Cricketer went to Will Rhodes.
