BEN BAILEY HOMES SOUTH YORKSHIRE CRICKET LEAGUE
CONISBROUGH surrendered the lead of the third tier as the half way point of the season arrived after losing out by three wickets in a top of the table thriller at Doncaster Town Seconds.
The prolific Gary Strephan rode his luck for Conisbrough as Town dropped four catches from him, allowing the star to notch 77 runs from his side’s final total of 178 all out.
Though five other batsmen reached double figures, none passed the 20 run mark as Conisbrough were skittled for 178 with two balls remaining.
Off-spinner Paul Goodwin claimed 4-57 off 15 overs while James Dobson took 3-28.
Doncaster’s response reached disastrous levels at 17-4 as Lowe and Strephan made early in roads on their way to 3-50 and 2-37 respectively.
But young all rounder Dobson was in no mood to surrender his wicket and remained to compile an unbeaten 76.
And he received valuable support from Matt King (36) and Mark Steadman (31) to see the hosts home with two overs remaining, handing them the six points which proved enough to take them top.
