Ambitious Danum Eagles hope to be playing in the BBL within five years, says head coach Bob Martin.

The Free Press exclusively revealed in October that the Eagles will join the men’s National League next year.

Danum have since been told they will in all likelihood have to start out in Division Four and work their way up the ladder.

But Martin (below) is confident the club can progress - and quickly.

“I’d like to see us back in the BBL within five years or so,” he said.

“We can do it but it is dependent on the town getting behind us in terms of sponsorship.”

Meanwhile, Eagles’ talented under 18 team top the North East Conference with five wins out of five. Liam Knapp (25) top scored in a 76-45 win over Ilkeston Outlaws at the weekend.

See this week’s Free Press for more from Danum Eagles, as Bob Martin chats to Steve Hossack about the likelihood of several ex-players returning to the club.
