Four of Darfield Dunkers’ U11 squad have been invited to join the South Yorkshire U11 training squad.

Connor McNally, Luca Farmer, Ellie Barton and Chris Waller have all been called up.

On Sunday, the Dunkers had a successful time at a South Yorkshire U11 tournament, held at Goals in Sheffield, winning three of their four games.

They opened with a 16- 4 win against Rotherham Hawks, with eight points from Farmer.

In the second game Sheffield Hatters took their chances better than the Dunkers to finish 16 -10 in front.

But the Dunkers then bounced back with a 16-10 win against Hatfield Fliers, and a 14-10 win against Sheffield Saints.

Waller, playing in his first tournament, was a strong defender for the Dunkers whilst Farmer top scored with 28 points.

Barnsley Leaders U14s travelled to Leeds on Sunday afternoon to take on Leeds Carnegie who have reached the EBL play-offs by finishing second in the NE Conference.

The Leaders improved on their previous result against Carnegie, but still finished 75-41 in arrears.

Carnegie opened the scoring but a Jacob Danks basket levelled the scores at 2-2.

Carnegie then shot ahead with a 10-0 run. Danks, Jake Barton and Peter Fleming added points for the leaders but Carnegie led by 16 as the first period closed.

Mateusz Grubecki (7) and Matthew Rees ( 5) were on target in the second period but Carnegie still outscored the Leaders and sealed a comfortable victory.
