Athletics: Teenager James gets silver medal in the capital

James Gormley (City of Sheffield) was in top form at the “Mini” road races at the London Marathon.

Running for Yorkshire and Humberside, Gormley finished runner up in the under 17 race.

Jonathon Shields (City of Sheffield) also had a fine run to finish 12th.

In the under 15 girls race there was a silver medal for Hallamshire’s Tilly Simpson with Amelia Lancaster (City of Sheffield) finishing twelfth.

In the under 15 boys race Alfie Manthorpe (City of Sheffield) ran well to finish in 17th place.

Mary McCarthy (Hallamshire) led the Yorks and Humberside team in the under 17 girls race with a good run in 28th place whilst Elizabeth Wilkinson was an excellent 13th in the under 13 girls race.

Yorkshire and Humberside won the team race at under 13 boys level helped by Taylor Hill (Hallamshire) who was fourth counter in 20th place.
