All-rounder Wood, 62, steers Rossington to victory


CONISBROUGH were skittled out for just 63 - Daniel Ward top-scoring with 27 - in their Barnsley and District Cricket League Division One clash at home to Thorncliffe.

The visitors had earlier piled up a massive 328-5, junior Michael Denton hitting a superb 108, after being put in.

Rossington Main picked up a five-point three-wicket Division Two win over Darfield thirds.

Junior Scott Wood (62) was the mainstay of their winning reply.

Wood (2-26) had earlier been the pick of the Main bowlers in Darfield’s knock of 162-4.

Brodsworth Main fourths beat Higham by seven wickets in a Division Two match reduced to 38 overs a side.

Junior David Merryweather (3-9) and Karl Buxton (3-4) shared six of the wickets to fall in Higham’s knock of 127 all out.

An unbeaten 42 by opener Richard Hull, and an unbeaten 60 by No 5 Michael Burns - a knock which included 12 fours, saw Main home in the 20th over.

Mexborough Athletic beat visiting Stainborough by seven wickets.

Replying to Stainborough’s 178 all out - Phillip Howell (5-73) - Mexborough made 182-3 with junior Callum Honeyman (63), Ryan Tingle (47 not out) and Scott Hibbett (30 not out) leading the way.
