All-rounder Cox is the star of Hatfield win

THE top-of-the-table clash in the All Saints Indoor Cricket League between Doncaster Town and Hatfield Town A saw the current champions run out easy winners.

Doncaster Town made a poor start against their arch rivals losing early wickets, but in-form Gareth Cox (34) came to his side’s rescue as the Town Fields side were bowled out for 102.

Hatfield lost opener Andy Shelton without scoring in the first over as they chased down their target.

Cox completed a good all-round performance by claiming 2 for 14 as their opponents lost wickets at regular intervals to close well short of the target. Paul Davies top scored with 22

Warmsworth had no answer to the pace bowling of Scot Wood, who claimed 3 for 21, as they were bowled out for a mere 81 runs. Steve Horsfield (18) top scored.

Rossington made light work of their target, Pete Mawdsley (29) and Joel Evans (25) ensured they cruised to victory without loss.

Liam Woodward had a rare failure with the bat as Maltby were bowled out for 97 against Hatfield Town B, Jim Stafford (3 for 22) being the main destroyer.

Liam Parker and Philip Fletcher, both with 29 runs, rescued the innings with a late flourish of 18 from Luke Davies.

Hatfield had no answer to the bowling of Phil Fletcher, who claimned 3 for 6, as they were bowling out for 60.

Nick Bisby continued his fine form with an aggressive 32 not out against formidable Barnby Dun, with good support from Mark Atkins (21).

Stuart McPhee, 2 for 19, and 26 retired not out. completed a good all round performance as Dun completed victory for the loss of one wicket.

Opening partner Steve Barnes (25) Scot Walker (27) and Keiron Dinnage (24) all made good contributions to the Dun total of 121.
