Adwick saved by the weather

ADWICK-on-Dearne were saved by the weather in their Solly Sports South Yorkshire Cricket Alliance Division Three clash at home to Sheffield United.

Put into bat, Adwick were skittled out for just 31 with John Otter doing the damage with a 6-16 haul. Fortunately for the Doncaster side, the game was abandoned due to heavy rain before United could reply.

Doncaster Town beat both the weather and Brookhouse. Batting first after winning the toss, Town made 184-6 with Joe Horrocks (78), Gareth Horrocks (32) and Tom Bradley (28 not out) supplying the bulk of the runs. Thomas Siddall (4-22) was the pick of the Brookhouse bowlers.

The visitors, for whom Rob Layte (27) top-scored, were all out for 83 in reply - Daniel Horrocks (4-17), David Owens (2-23) and Mark Harris (3-10) sharing out the wickets to fall.

Whitley Hall (74-3) also picked up a win at Forgemaster, who had earlier made 73 all out (Andy Davies 23).

Just one Division Two game, Harworth versus Brookhouse, beat the weather. Harworth (Andy Dickinson 27) won the toss and elected to bat and made 100 all out - Thomas Green taking 3-11. Doug Hinton (5-13) and Dylan Sisman (3-15) both shone with the ball in Brookhouse’s reply of 95 all out.

Wickersley Old Village were 10-0 in reply in their Division One clash at Kilnhurst when play was abandonded for the day. Wickersley had earlier made 114-1 declared thanks mainly to an unbeaten second-wicket stand between Ryan Morton 41 not out and Malc Whitehouse 27 not out.

Adwick-on-Dearne seconds had made just 22-4 at home to visiting Wickersley when play was washed out for the day.
