Dearne & District will be looking to last Sunday’s Challenge Cup win over Chesterfield to give them the boost they need to climb off bottom spot in the league.
Dearne’s 3-2 first round success at Chesterfield was a huge improvement on the last time the teams met in Sheffield & Hallam Women’s County League Division One when the latter romped to a 6-0 home victory.
Trudi Race provided the assists for Dearne’s first two goals scored by Sami Clay and an opponent, while Charlotte Dinsdale converted a penalty.
After seven straight defeats, Dearne have not been as bad as their scorelines have suggested with their new-look team continuing to adjust to life in the North East Regional Southern Division.
Dearne will certainly need that positive mood on the next three Sundays when they face a demanding trio of fixtures.
First up they visit second place Farsley who have maximum points from their five games to date. That is followed by away, then home back-to-back fixtures against current leaders Westella & Willerby who are a point ahead of Farsley, but from two games more.
Mexborough Athletic were beaten 4-2 at home by Sheffield Wednesday Development in S&H County Division Two. Boro’ host Shaw Lane Aquaforce this Sunday.
