Wath and West Melton Charity Cup Final
Queens United 0-2 Westville
KEEPER Jody Beadling and midfielder Danny Stewart were the heroes as Westville sealed a fourth straight Wath Cup triumph with victory over local rivals Queens United.
Beadling was named man of the match after saving an early penalty while Stewart netted both goals to see the Mexborough Premier Division runners-up continue their dominance of the competition.
Queens were awarded the penalty on 10 minutes and Beadling reacted superbly to tip Sam Green’s effort away before quickly getting back to his feet and blocking the striker’s rebound effort.
Shortly afterwards Westville took the lead.
A move down the right involving Nicky Harper, Jamie Williams and Craig Jackson saw the ball rolled back to Stewart who drilled home.
Stewart doubled the lead with a right footed effort from the edge of the area.
The young midfielder really should have sealed his hat–trick after going through on goal but the Queens keeper charged him down superbly.
Harper crashed a free kick off the post with the keeper well beaten but the two goal advantage proved enough to seal the win for Westville.
As man of the match, Beadling was presented with the Tony Corby Trophy by the family of the late landlord.
