Barnsley boss Lee Johnson has confirmed the club have let three players go as he restructures his squad for the second half of the season.
Canadian international striker Simeon Jackson has been released, whilst fellow forwards Conor Wilkinson and Michael Smith have returned to their parent clubs after struggling to impress on loan.
Jackson made just one start in his 10 appearances for the Reds, failing to score a single goal.
Swindon loanee Smith also went his entire spell without scoring, whilst Wilkinson goes back to Bolton Wanderers with just one goal to his name, having not found the back of the net since his debut in August.
The Reds did have the option to bring both players to the club permanently, but Johnson was a little upset with how Wilkinson's loan panned out in particular.
“I'm disappointed because I think the boy has got all the talent in the world, but his application needs to improve,” he reflected.
“If he does improve his ways then the world is his oyster and he'll have a very good career.”
