THE Steelmen lost 4-2 at Scarborough in the opening game of the Baris NCEL season.
After surviving a five minute onslaught by the home side, Parkgate started to take command in the 10th minute and they made Scarborough pay in the 12th. A run down the left by defender Tom Jowitt saw his cross met by Nathan Forbes-Swindells and he poked it into the bottom left of the Boro net from close range.
In control, Parkgate were punished in the 36th minute when Curtis Bernard was able to get around the back of the Steelmen defence and cross to an unmarked Scott Phillips who headed into an empty net for 1-1.
Parkgate’s response was to immediately counter attack and five minutes from the break Nathan Forbes-Swindells scored the second of his brace when his long run ended in the bottom right hand corner of the goal.
Boro levelled on 72 minutes when Tony Hackworth hit a shot into the far corner of Jenkinson’s goal.
Substitute Jordan Turner for Parkgate was given his marching orders for a second yellow card. Scarborough took the advantage and the lead on 80 minutes as a long-range effort, again from Tony Hackworth, gave James Jenkinson no chance when it went in off the post for 3-2
With no way back Scarborough broke again in the last minute and this time Joel Hartley scored at James Jenkinson’s near post to put the game beyond doubt.
It was Parkgate though who had the last say with a thunderbolt free kick from 22 yards by Matthew Grifffin which rattled the Boro crossbar.
