Coaching staff at Bramall Lane are in close contact with their counterparts at Manchester United as the League One leaders wait to discover the full extent of Joe Riley’s shoulder injury.
The on-loan defender has returned to Old Trafford after dislocating a shoulder during training earlier this week and will miss tomorrow’s game against Bolton Wanderers.
Chris Wilder revealed yesterday that Riley could either be fit within a fortnight or miss the rest of the season depending upon the results of a scan.
“We got straight in touch with Manchester United when it happened,” the United manager said. “And we’re still in touch with them now. It’s a case of waiting to see exactly what has happened and taking things from there.”
