LAST season saw Cheltenham survive by the skin of their teeth and a similar struggle was expected for this campaign.
While recent form – two wins in 15, including six defeats in the last eight including last weekend’s 8-1 horror home loss – has seen them slip down the table, the Robins have exceeded expectations.
A couple of wins from their remaining games will seal safety but as they were on the fringes of the top seven for the first half of the season, there will be some disappointment.
DEEMED surplus to requirements as Dagenham and Redbridge chased play off glory last term, striker Wes Thomas has shown this season it may have been wrong to overlook him.
Thomas has netted 19 times this season at Cheltenham, only once scoring more than one goal in a game.
The 24-year-old rose through non league football with Thurrock, Waltham Forest and Fisher Athletic.
With his contract up in the summer, Thomas could be set for bigger things.
