Rotherham United goal hero Danny Ward looked ahead to Frightening February and can’t wait to get started.

In their next five matches the Millers take on teams going for automatic promotion or a play-off place.

And Ward, who came off the bench at Charlton last Saturday to score the equaliser in a 1-1 draw, said: “It’s good to get Saturday-Tuesday games going again.

“The games come thick and fast, which is what we enjoy. We like to play games. “

Steve Evans’ men are at home to Ipswich on Saturday before a visit to Blackburn the following Tuesday.

They then entertain Derby the Tuesday after that, before trips to Wolves on the 21st and Watford on the 24th.

Ward added: “We’ve just got to concentrate on the next game that comes and take the month game by game.”

Rotherham are up to 20th place in the Championship and going well after an emphatic 4-2 win at home to Bolton and the draw at The Valley where their performance deserved all three points.

“We’d definitely have taken four points before the last two games,” Ward said.

“We knew Bolton was going to be a huge game and we had to respect them. To come away from there with three points and to get another point at Charlton is massive for us.”

His goal in time added on at Charlton was set up by his former teammate at Huddersfield, Adam Hammill, and the 24-year-old attacker who joined the Millers only last month believes the Terriers connection played a part,

“Obviously you’re playing with new lads, but it’s good to also be playing with a few lads you’ve already played with,” Ward said. “I’ve played with Jack Hunt before as well as Adam. It makes it a bit easier. Maybe it helped with the goal that I’ve played with Adam before and could anticipate what he might do.

“I know he likes to to get the ball in the box. We’d spoken in the game and I said ‘if you do get that chance, get it in and if I’m not there it’s my fault’. It did help a bit, yeah.

“I knew Adam was going to put it in so I just thought I’d get in the box and try to be in the right space.

“Morgs (Chris Morgan) and Arni (Kari Arnason) took the defenders away and it just fell to my feet. All I had to do was put it away.”
