Rotherham United made it two signings in a day as they snapped up former Manchester United starlet Tom Thorpe.

The 22-year-old defender signed a deal just hours after fellow centre-half Danny Collins put pen to paper.

Thorpe came through the ranks at Old Trafford and has featured for every England age group from the under-16s through to the U-21s.

He made one appearance for Manchester United and six during a Championship loan spell at Birmingham City last season.

He came on as a substitute for Angel Di Maria in 2-1 Manchester United win over West Ham last September.

The youngster becomes the Millers’ sixth signing of the summer and the third this week, after Collins and right winger Emmanuel Ledesma.
