Rotherham United fought off competition from Walsall to snap up Febian Brandy and take their haul of pre-season signings to 10.

The arrival of right-winger Brandy, aged 25, completed a frantic 24-hour spell for the Championship side during which manager Steve Evans brought in four new faces.

League One Walsall, where Brandy spent much of last season on loan after falling our of favour with Sheffield United, had thought they were in pole position to recapture their former player.

The Millers announced the Brandy deal on the same day they revealed former Leeds and Middlesbrough right-back Frazer Richardson, 31, had joined them on a two-year deal. That came just a day after former Sheffield Wednesday centre-half Richard Wood and ex-Blades left-winger Ryan Hall agreed moves to New York Stadium.

They club didn’t confirm the length of Brandy’s contract.

Evans said: “Febian is a young man who I tried to sign on a couple of occasions, including last summer, when he thought Sheffield United would give him a platform to be playing Championship football this coming season.”
