Kenny Jackett has emerged as the front-runner to replace sacked Alan Stubbs as manager of Rotherham United.

The Star understands the Millers have made him a top target and that contact may already have been made.

The former Wolves and Millwall boss is the bookmakers’ favourite, with BetVictor offering odds of 2/5 on the 54-year-old becoming the next man at New York Stadium.

Former player Paul Hurst, in charge at League Two Grimsby Town, is also on the list at 8/1, while ex-Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill could be interested.

For now, fitness coach Paul Warne and goalkeeping coach Andy Dibble are in charge of first-team affairs at the Championship club who are at home to Reading on Saturday.

Stubbs departed yesterday along with assistant boss John Doolan and first-team coach Andy Holden.
