A South Yorkshire derby is next up for Rotherham United as they begin the countdown to Championship football.
The Millers travel to South Yorkshire rivals Doncaster Rovers for a pre-season friendly with the start of the new campaign only a week away.
Raynor, who took charge of Rotherham’s 2-0 win at Alfreton Town in midweek, said: “It’s a local derby We’ll take a few numbers in terms of our fans and they’ll be looking forward to it”
The Millers begin their Championship challenge at Derby next Saturday.
Raynor added: “It’s another step on the road to August 9 and that’s the way we’ve go to look at it.
“We’ve had non-league opposition, we’ve had local non-league opposition, we’ve had a Championship side, we’ve had a Conference side and we’ve Premier League opponents coming up in Leicester on Tuesday. The Gaffer has tried to put a whole range of different types of challenge in front of us and the boys have enjoyed it.”
The club’s 2,600 ticket allocation for the Rams showdown has sold out.
