Rotherham Utd vs Gillingham
Priestfield, February 8, 7.45pm
WHAT better way to ease the pain of a final day relegation than bring back a club legend who brought the good times in the past.
Andy Hessenthaler returned from the wilderness to Gillingham and immediately instilled confidence in a return to League One at the first attempt.
A decent first half of the season has backed up that confidence, especially with Priestfield proving a difficult place to take anything from. Away form has improved since last season but not sufficiently to guide the Gills nearer to the automatic slots.
The Gills are on a strong run of form at the minute and a making a strong push towards the top six.
CODY McDonald may have been used as a deal-sweetener by Norwich to get their hands on Simeon Jackson but Gillingham are certainly benefitting from the loan striker’s presence.
The 24-year-old’s 12 goals in 21 appearances so far have helped put the Gills in play off contention.
Norwich snapped up McDonald two years ago after he netted an incredible 19 goals in 20 appearances for non-league Dartford.
