The Rovers squad is fighting for their manager.
That is the emphatic message Richie Wellens has sent to supporters that are calling for Paul Dickov’s head.
In his typically forthright and honest manner, Wellens said he was surprised to hear that Dickov was under fire from a section of the club’s support.
And he says the evidence of recent performances show that the players are fully behind their boss.
“Everyone is behind the manager,” Wellens said.
“We’ve never not all been behind the manager.
“I’ve played in teams where the manager has been on the verge of the sack and you can tell by the performances of the team that he’s under pressure, that players aren’t fighting for the manager.
“Without doubt you can see from the last few games that the players are playing for the manager.
“Of course we all respect him, and we want him to take us to the top of the league.
“I didn’t think he was under any pressure.”
