Barnsley failed to build on the morale-boosting win against Leyton Orient as they slid to a 1-0 defeat at high-flying Preston.
Barnsley made a decent start and Dale Jennings shot narrowly over, while the recalled Leroy Lita missed a great chance. He was had plenty of room as he met Berry’s smart low cross, but screwed a shot dismally wide from 10 yards.
The deciding goal was a 17th minute penalty for the home side.
John Welsh was crudely halted as he charged into the Reds’ box by Luke Berry, and referee Mr Tierney pointed straight to the spot
Paul Gallagher comfortably slotted past Adam Davies to make it 1-0.
